The9 buys minority stake in G10

The Korean developer sold the stake for a USD 38 million equity investment to the Chinese game operator

The9 has acquired a minority stake in the Korean developer G10, the makers of the Audition series.

The Chinese online games operator, who holds the license for World of Warcraft, Hellgate: London and FIFA Online 2, bought the minority stake for an equity investment of approximately USD 38 million.

"G10 Entertainment is a leading game developer, especially in the advanced casual game arena. Its Audition game franchise enjoys high popularity and a strong user base in China," said Mr Jun Zhu, The9's CEO.

"The9's equity investment in G10 will strengthen the existing partnership between the two companies and further motivate G10 to provide the best support to The9's operation of Audition 2 in mainland China," he added.

Blizzard Entertainment recently expanded its deal with The9 to include the operation of the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King, following the group's reporting of one million concurrent users in China.
