Satoru Iwata to keynote GDC09

Nintendo president to discuss new development opportunities

Think Services has announced that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will be among the keynotes for this year's GDC09 event, talking place in San Francisco in March.

He will deliver the opening keynote, titled "Discovering New Development Opportunities" on Wednesday March 25.

Iwata previously spoke at the conference in 2005 on the subject of what became the Wii console, and in 2006 his speech focused on disruptive development and his theories on engaging new players.

In 2008 in the North American market, according to NPD data, Nintendo was responsible for 99 per cent of the country's videogames market growth.
