Nintendo distances itself from unofficial Balance Board covers

Drugs and softcore imagery monitored by company for IP infringement

Nintendo has said that it will continue to monitor all unofficial products intended for use with the Wii and Wii Fit Balance Board to ensure it does not infringe copyright.

Online retailer Amazon in the US has begun selling Balance Board covers depicting cannabis and softcore porn imagery, for sale under USD 20.00.

The covers are manufactured and sold by AMR Racing, which provides artwork and skins for Rock Band peripherals, Xbox 360 cases and other gadgets.

"These are not officially licensed products, we always recommend the use of official first or third party Nintendo products to ensure 100 per cent compatibility and reliability with our hardware," Nintendo told GamesIndustry.biz.

"We always closely monitor new products entering the market to ensure that they do not infringe on any of our IP."
