MiniMonos

"Sustainability-focused" virtual world for children launches iPhone app.

Wellington, NZ - August 30, 2010 - MiniMonos ( http://www.minimonos.com), the sustainability-focused virtual world for children, has launched its first iPhone app, MiniMonos Flight.

Players of the game become flying monkeys, and have to tilt their iPhones left and right to swoop through the sky, collecting wind clouds and avoiding energy-sapping pollution clouds. Trampolines on the ground provide bouncing rescues to monkeys that get too low.

MiniMonos Flight is an iPhone adaptation of the game in MiniMonos.com, the popular childrens virtual world. Banana chips scored on the iPhone app can be posted to your MiniMonos.com account.

We had a great time adapting MiniMonos Flight to the iPhone, says Greg Montgomery, MiniMonos Chief Technical Officer. Its quite gratifying to fly in the game by physically moving the device.

As the iPhone app was receiving the green light from Apple, MiniMonos passed another milestone: inspired by the companys core values of sustainability, generosity, community and fun, more than 32,000 children from more than 150 countries have now registered for the virtual world.

The team at MiniMonos will be continually updating the iPhone app, as well as launching new apps based on the other games in the MiniMonos.com virtual world like R.A.T.S. (Recycle All This Stuff), Go Go Green, and Monkey Fist.

The MiniMonos Flight app sells for US$1.99, and can be found at http://itunes.apple.com/app/minimonos-flight/id388136679

ABOUT MINIMONOS

MiniMonos is a virtual world for children: a place of fun, beauty, discovery, generosity, sustainability and friendship.

MiniMonos was created by Melissa Clark-Reynolds so that children could have a place of their own, a place that allows them to explore and grow without constant pressure to buy stuff. Its a place that embodies core values like sustainability and generosity, without turning those values into a boring lecture.

Children's in-world treehouses require care and nourishment in order to flourish -- just like our planet. The games they play are fun games -- with a connection to our core values. MiniMonos aim is to continually answer the question: What would a virtual world for children look like if sustainability were a given and we could just focus on entertainment?
