Midway Games is being sued over its 2004 original title Psi-Ops, by a screenwriter who claims the character and plot were stolen from a script he wrote in 1998.
Both the game and screenplay feature government forces trained in psychic combat, with the lawsuit indicating that character details such as clothing, build and background are near identical, reports Gamespot
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of screenwriter William L. Crawford III, reveals that he visited E3 in 2001 to showcase the project, as well as setting up websites with details of the story and concept art.
Crawford is seeking at least US $1.5 million in damages.
The US Copyright Office has both the screenplay and game registered on its website. Crawford's Psi-ops was registered in March 1998, while Midway's Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is listed from July 2004.
Midway was not available at the time of writing.
