Midway readies 6 titles for PS3 download

Midway is preparing six titles for digital download on the PlayStation 3, due early this year.

Midway is preparing six titles for digital download on the PlayStation 3, due early this year.

Mortal Kombat II, Gauntlet II, Joust, Rampage World Tour, Rampart and Championship Sprint have all been chosen for their multiplayer capabilities.

"We knew these titles would be a perfect fit for the PlayStation Network," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer at Midway.

"Based on Sony Online Entertainment's legacy in the online space as well as its intimate knowledge of the PlayStation Network, it was an obvious decision they would be a top company to work with to bring this project to fruition," he offered.

Joust and versions of Gauntlet and Mortal Kombat already appear on the Xbox 360's rival download service, while the other titles have appeared on numerous retro compilations from the publisher.

"This is a great opportunity for SoE and Midway to come together to bring these arcade treasures to the next-generation of gaming on the PlayStation 3," added John Needham, CEO of Sony Online Entertainment.
