Koei's Warriors Orochi ships 1.5m worldwide

Success of crossover franchise prompts North American release for sequel

Japanese publisher Koei has revealed that Xbox 360, PS2 and PSP title Warriors Orochi has shipped over 1.5 million units worldwide.

The game is a crossover of the publisher's two biggest franchises – Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors – and the success has unsurprisingly prompted Koei to announce a sequel for North America.

"This milestone is a significant testament to the global impact not only of this game, but also to the tremendous admiration that fans worldwide share for the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors characters," said Amos Ip, senior vice president for Koei.

"As we celebrate, I would like to recognise and express our thanks to the videogame world’s greatest fans for making this achievement possible."
