GameFlood Announces Winners of the $25,000 Mod and Map Making Contest

New Orleans, Louisiana: August 6, 2007: GameFlood, the premier online destination for playing and creating add-on video game content, has announced the winners of its $25,000 Mod and Map Making Contest. The top 10 finalists in each of five major and two minor categories were initially nominated by the GameFlood community of members, with the winners in each category selected by a panel of industry expert judges. Each winner will take home cash and other prizes as a result of making the finest mods and maps for their respective categories of competition. All original content creations are now published and available for download at www.gameflood.com.

"There were an amazing number of mod and map submissions and our judges have been impressed with the overall quality and sophistication of the pieces," stated Matt Wisdom, CEO of GameFlood's parent company, Turbo Squid. "The winners of this contest are deserving artists who stood out as some of the best talent that the mod and map making industry has to offer. The winners and corresponding prize for each contest category are as follows:

1. Best FPS Mod: First Prize - Project Reality by requiem; Second Prize - Follow Freeman HL2 Co-op Beta 2 by Merciless Development; Third Prize - Frag.Ops by Frag Ops

2. Best FPS Map: First Prize - dod_dijon by Furyo; Second Prize - de_stratocorp2 by heyo7; Third Prize - cs_xmas by stormseeker

3. Best RTS Mod: Fall from Heaven II 0.23c by Kael; Second Prize- Cold War Crisis v0.6 by InvaderZim; Third Prize - The Ancient Mediterranean by Laurino

4. Best RTS Map: First Prize - Earth 18 civs by Rhye; Second Prize - D-Day Coop (3 Players) by Mannerheim Henry666; Third Prize - Thanksgiving III by RF_Gandalf

5. Best RPG Mod: First Prize - Tamriel Rebuilt by TR_Team; Second Prize - Natural Environments by Max_Tael; Third Prize - Wayfarer's Rest by baratheon79

6. Best RTS Mini-Mod: ActualQuotes for Warlords by Willowmound

7. Best RPG Mini-Mod: Capes and Cloaks by Someone1074

For the major categories, each winner will receive cash and a Logitech keyboard valued at a total of $3,000, with second and third place receiving similar packages valued at $1,000 and $500, respectively. The mini-mod winners will each receive a cash and keyboard prize equaling $500 in value.

The panel of industry experts that selected the winners of each category include: Graeme Bayless, President of Kush Games; Gabe Miller, Senior Producer of Double Fine; Joe Vance, Art Director of Disney Interactive; Mike Casalino, Senior Environment Modeler of EA Tiburon; Scott Nagy, Senior Software Engineer of Kaos; Dustin Hansen, CEO and Art Director of Polystew; Oge Young, Producer of Midway Austin; and Adrian Finol, original developer of Half-Life 2 Deathmatch and Senior Software Engineer of Valve.
