GAME to move Gamestation team to Basingstoke

Around 80 positions affected as head office moves 240 miles

Retailer GAME is to move the majority of Gamestations' head office staff from York to Basingstoke.

Around 80 staff will be affected, with the company offering comparable roles to those staff that want to make the 240 mile move.

Warehouse and customer support centres in York will not be affected

GAME's Tricia Brennan will now take on the role of commercial and supply chain director, while former Gamestation MD Martyn Gibbs will become customer and brand director.

"We are proposing changes to strengthen our brands in the UK and prepare for the rapidly changing consumer environment," offered Terry Scicluna, COO of GAME.

"We want to build on the recent successes of GAME and Gamestation and develop their individual customer propositions. Working together we can provide world class support functions for our UK stores – two strong brands with one support structure with an increased focus on customers and suppliers."

The company said that plans to open new Gamestation stores and invest in IT and back office systems will not be affected.

Last year, HR, payroll, property and loss prevention teams were integrated into the Basingstoke office.
