ESL at the MCM Expo

A report on the TrackMania Nations Forever and Counter-Strike: Source matches at last month's London event.

Cologne, 2nd June, 2010 – The Electronic Sports League (ESL) successfully organised an event at their own booth at MCM Expo in London which took place on 29th and 30th May. The reigning TrackMania Nations Forever champion Jonathan "darkY" Holmes played the audience. Two Counter-Strike: Source showmatches and two ESL Pro Series matches (the premier league of competitive gaming) were shown.

Hundreds of fans saw exciting matches and they were able to play against a professional gamer themselves. The four Counter-Strike: Source matches were casted on stage by our very own Joe Miller and guest commentator Paul Chaloner. All matches were broadcasted live by our IPTV channel ESL TV and more than 5.000 people saw it live on this stream.

The London MCM Expo set three new records. First the turnout was in excess of 41.000 and there was the longest line of people ever to enter the show. But the record with the most impact was the new Guinness World Record for the Largest Handheld DS Party which was held by Australia for the last three years.

Beside the official games there was a freegaming area powered by Alienware with the four disciplines Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike 1.6, Trackmania Nations Forever and Quake Live. The games were played on the powerful Alienware M11x, M15x and M17x gaming laptops, equiped with Intel's High-End processors Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7, and currently the fastest 17-inch laptop in the world.

The results of the four matches are as following:

Rasta vs. Rive [06:16] Counter-Strike: Source ESL Pro Series UK match

Team Dignitas vs. Rive [00:02] Counter-Strike: Source showmatch

LFo vs. Team Dignitas [13:16] Counter-Strike: Source showmatch

Team Dignitas vs. The Last Resort [13:16] Counter-Strike: Source ESL Pro Series UK match
