EA rolls We Love Katamari into Europe

Electronic Arts has announced that it's to publish Namco's PS2-exclusive title We Love Katamari in Europe in early 2006, marking the first entry of the critically acclaimed series into this territory.

We Love Katamari - the English title for "Minna Daisuki Katamari Damacy" - is the sequel to Katamari Damacy, which achieved cult status in Japan and North America, but was never released in Europe.

The game sees you rolling a large ball around the world picking up objects, which gradually get larger and larger as your ball grows - going from picking up tiny items like matches, thumb-tacks and pieces of sushi, to entire buildings, ships and even clouds.

The whole thing is the brainchild of Namco's Keita Takahashi, who will be giving a talk at this year's GDCE event in London at the end of this month.

"At last, the time has come for our fans in Europe to enjoy We Love Katamari," Takahashi said of today's announcement. "I am so excited about this! Basically, this is a silly game that doesn't involve a whole lot of thinking, but if you will just laugh and sing along as you roll, roll and roll, I'm sure you will find it to be a lot of fun."
