Cryptic Studios appoints Bill Roper as design director

Former Flagship founder to work on Champions Online

MMO veteran Bill Roper is to take on the design director role for Cryptic Studios' Champions Online.

Roper joins Cryptic after the collapse of Hellgate: London developer Flagship Studios earlier this year.

"Bill brings a ton of creative energy to the Cryptic office and we’re thrilled to have him join our team," commented John Needham, CEO of Cryptic.

"His years of gaming and online experience are huge assets to all of our projects, and Bill will assist us in furthering our studio’s vision to create innovative, exciting MMO gameplay."

Roper co-founded Flagship Studios after working at Blizzard on the Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo titles.

As well as Champions Online, Cryptic is also working on Star Trek Online and another, unannounced project.
