Climax appoints new Game Director for its dedicated racing studio

Climax Studios has announced the appointment of former THQ exec Roger Carpenter, who will be overseeing new game development of a major racing franchise in his role as Game Director at the company's racing studio.

Formerly employed as project management director for THQ, one of Climax's leading publishing partners, Carpenter has worked on several high-profile racing brands including two titles in Climax's Moto GP series and the street racer Juiced, acquired from the now defunct Acclaim Entertainment. He also spent some time with both Acclaim and Hasbro Interactive, working on best sellers including ATV Quad Power Racing 2 and the original Burnout game.

Climax's Tony Beckwith stated: "Roger's CV makes for impressive reading and we're delighted he's joined the company. With the racing studio currently working on a number of major titles, the timing of his arrival is perfect too. Everyone here will benefit from his passion, commitment and experience, and I know he's going to prove a fantastic asset to the company."

Commenting on his new appointment, Carpenter said: "Climax has several excellent games in development and I'm really looking forward to getting involved. I've been hugely impressed with what I've already seen: the company has built some amazing technology that the talented development teams here are using to create groundbreaking games."

THQ recently posted its second quarter financial results, showing improved sales and reduced losses. However, several new titles in development for both existing and next generation consoles have suffered renewed delays, including the long awaited PC title, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
