Bejeweled titles sell over 25 million units

Over $300 million spent on puzzle and sequel, says PopCap

PopCap has revealed that Bejeweled and Bejeweled 2 have collectively sold over 25 million units.

The game was released back in 2000 and has graced numerous formats across the web, mobile, console and other channels.

"Considering we tried to sell Bejeweled outright to more than one industry giant back in the early days of our company, and got no takers even after reducing our asking price to USD 60,000, this little game has done all right for itself," commented Jason Kapalka, chief creative officer of PopCap.

According to PopCap, over 350 million copies of the game and its sequel have been downloaded from the web, and combined with over 25 million sales across other platforms, the series has topped over USD 300 million in consumer spending.
