Australian developers awarded $240,000 prototype funding

Four companies receive cash for new digital initiatives

Four Australian developers based in the Victoria region have been awarded a total of AUD $244,450 (£134,706 / $211,354) in prototype funding for digital games projects.

Touch My Pixel's Deadsun, Tin Man Games' Gamebook Adventures and Incoming from Khrob Edmonds received AUD $96,650 in total, while Andre Spierings was awarded AUD $147,800 for Facebook game Bunni Social.

"We believe this development funding will enable some of Victoria’s smaller studios to compete in this lucrative global marketplace," said Sandra Sdraulig, CEO of Film Victoria, which awarded the funding.

"We’re proud to be the only screen agency to provide significant funding support for the development of games content in Australia. Victoria is at the forefront of game content prototyping, and continues to strengthen as a hub of creative and talent."

The funding came from Film Victoria's Downloadable Games Initiative, which provides support for content creators to developer prototypes for online distribution, and the established Digital Media Prototyping program.
