NetEase invests "several million dollars" in Polish VR studio

Lodz-based Something Random is to release its debut title in 2023

NetEase has invested "several million dollars" in Polish VR studio Something Random.

It's NetEase's first foray into the Polish market, with Something Random set up in 2021 by former Superhot devs Cezary Skorupka, Jakub Witczak, Anna Żurawicz-Skorupka and Piotr Goguś.

The virtual reality studio, based in Lodz, is currently working on its debut title, to be released in 2023.

Something Random had previously raised "several million dollars" in a seed round to develop two VR titles, including a first person shooter.

CEO Skorupka commented: "The world of VR games has a very dynamic future, and there is a huge potential in it. Virtual reality is an area in which we have experience, and a global investor appreciated not only our achievements so far, but above all, invested in games we are currently working on."
