Pokémon Legends: Arceus sells more than 6.5 million units

Newest entry reaches sales milestone within a week of release while also beating out 2019's Sword and Shield launch numbers

Yesterday Nintendo announced that Pokémon Legends: Arceus has sold more than 6.5 million units worldwide.

The latest installment of the monster catching franchise reached the sales milestone within a week after launch.

The sales units for Legends represents both digital and boxed copies.

By comparison, 2019's Pokémon Sword and Shield sold 6 million copies during its release window.

Whereas 2021's Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl worldwide sales also reached the same amount a week after launch.

Earlier this week, Legends was reported to have moved 1.43 million boxed launch units in Japan, becoming the second best-selling Nintendo Switch game released in Japan.

Within the UK, the newest Pokémon title was the fourth biggest Pokémon retail launch of all time.

In addition, Pokémon Legends: Arceus reaches its sales achievement being a single version game.
