PAX South cancelled "for the foreseeable future"
San Antonio offshoot of gaming conferences axed after six years due to COVID-19 and lack of growth
Not every in-person gaming convention will be returning after COVID-19, as the organizers of PAX South today announced they were done with the San Antonio-based show "for the foreseeable future."
"While each of our other events have flourished, some of them drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees from around the world, PAX South hasn't expanded and to some extent has remained the same show that it was when we opened it in 2015," organizers said on the event's official site.
The statement also acknowledged that the pandemic had compounded those existing issues with the show.
The first PAX South took place in January of 2015. The last PAX South show was held in January of 2020.
The PAX line of gaming events are run by GamesIndustry.biz parent company ReedPop.
