Shoji Meguro announces exit from Atlus
Persona composer leaves publisher to produce music as a freelancer and purse indie game development
Long time Persona series composer, Shoji Meguro, announced his resignation from publisher Atlus.
In a statement he released on Twitter, Meguro said he left in September to pursue independent game development and work as a freelance game composer.
Additionally, he shared that he's been developing indie games for the last five years and he's joined Kodansha Game Creators Lab as an independent developer.
Despite his departure, the composer did note he will continue to work with Atlus to create music for its games.
"I will continue to maintain a good relationship with Atlus,” he explains.
"So I hope that those of you who were concerned about the sudden announcement will feel relieved."
Meguro originally joined Atlus in 1995 and composed for many its titles. Specifically he was the lead composer for the company's Persona and Shin Megami Tensei franchises.
