Japan's Super Nintendo World to open on March 18

Universal Studios Japan announced that its Nintendo theme park, Super Nintendo World, will finally be opening on Thursday, March 18.

Super Nintendo World is based in Osaka and its opening was delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the US' Super Nintendo World, set to open at Universal's upcoming Epic Universe park in Orlando (Florida) has been delayed to 2025, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Construction was delayed due to COVID-19 and has only just resumed, Universal said. It was initially scheduled to open in 2023.

Japan's Super Nintendo World was initially planned to open in time for the Summer 2020 Olympics, but ended up being pushed back to spring 2021. Sharing more details in November, Universal Studios then announced it would actually be opening on February 4.

The theme park was announced back in 2015, with construction starting in 2017. Universal shared more details last year, saying it was going to focus on "interactive experiences."

A third location in Singapore was also announced in 2019, but the timeframe hasn't been detailed.
