#RaiseTheGame and UKIE join Best Places To Work Awards 2020

Dr Jo Twist and Shahneila Saeed join speaker roster

UKIE's #RaiseTheGame initiative and Digital Schoolhouse have signed-up to speak at next month's GamesIndustry.biz Live: Best Places To Work Awards 2020.

The UK awards will take place on Friday, September 18th. You can sign up for a free ticket right here.

UKIE CEO Jo Twist will host a panel discussing key topics around diversity and inclusion within the games industry, featuring some of the trade body's #RaiseTheGame findings. The panel will look at multiple areas, and discuss how the business can become more welcoming and accessible to marginalised groups

In addition, UKIE's head of education and Digital Schoolhouse programme director Shahneila Saeed will deliver a talk on the importance of education to industry diversity, drawing on her experience as a teacher, running UKIE's education schemes and writing her recent book How To Raise A Tech Genius (without any coding).

The two sessions will be part of an afternoon of talks proceeding the awards ceremony itself. Other talks include an interview with Media Molecule studio director (and last year's UK Best Boss winner) Siobhan Reddy, a panel discussion on the future impact of COVID-19 on the workplace, plus guidance on how companies should handle abuse accusations.

The Best Places To Work Awards 2020 is the closing event of GamesIndustry.biz Live, our events series that began at the end of July. Our first show was a series of talks from data companies on the state of the games business, you an rewatch that event right here.

We then followed that in August with Changing Channels, an event about the worlds of TV, movies and games crossing over. You can catch-up on all the sessions right here.

Our next show is the GamesIndustry.biz Investment Summit, two-days of meetings, networking, roundtables and talks. It takes place September 9th - 10th, and you can register for a ticket through here.
