Death Stranding PC delayed to July

Impact of working from home pushes Kojima Productions' next release back by more than a month

The PC version of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

505 Games, which picked up the PC publishing rights to the formerly PlayStation exclusive, announced via Twitter that the game will be released on July 14. It was originally due on June 2.

The publisher attributed the decision to the "work from home orders in place at Kojima Productions" as part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The studio has been working remotely since the end of March, after one employee was diagnosed with the virus.

Death Stranding is the latest in an increasingly long line of games being delayed due to the impact of coronavirus.

Other upcoming titles affected include: PlayStation's The Last of Us: Part II and Iron Man VR, which have been delayed indefinitely; the Switch version of The Outer Wilds, which was delayed back in February; InXile's Wasteland 3; Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons; Konami's retro console, the TurboGrafx-16 Mini; the retail versions of two Soedesco titles; and most recently the Euros DLC for PES 2020.

There have been concerns that the upcoming next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X will also be delayed. But Microsoft's Phil Spencer seemed confident the next Xbox will be released on time in a recent interview.

Meanwhile, Sony has stated it does not believe COVID-19 will have an impact on the PS5's launch later this year. That said, last week it was reported the platform holder is limiting the number of units it is producing for the console's launch window.
