Tilting Point buys Star Trek Timelines from Disruptor Beam

Key team members will join Tilting Point to operate Timelines as Wicked Realms Games

Tilting Point has acquired Star Trek Timelines from Disruptor Beam, and formed a new studio in Boston with key members of its development team.

Wicked Realms Games is composed of 19 staff from Disruptor Beam -- including CTO David Cham -- who will transfer to Tilting Point as part of the Star Trek Timelines acquisition.

Tilting Point has been a partner on Star Trek Timelines since December 2017, starting with a user acquisition funding deal and then handling marketing, sales and distribution from October 2018.

After the sale, Disruptor Beam will focus its resources on the Disruptor Engine, its proprietary free-to-play platform. According to Disruptor Beam CEO Jon Radoff, Tilting Point will be "one of our first live customers" in a new direction for the business.

Star Trek Timelines has been downloaded eight million times, earning $100 million in revenue to date.

Tilting Point has been highly active in terms of investment over the last 12 months.

Across June and July 2019, it committed to a combined $50 million in user acquisition spending to Mino Games' Cat Game and CookApps' Toy Party.

In October 2019, it acquired the monetisation firm Gondola for an undisclosed sum.

We spoke to Tilting Point president Samir El Aligi about the company's ambitions to move into co-development in May last year -- you can read the article here.
