Bungie raises over $400k for St Jude Children's Research Hospital

Developer's block on Guardian Con Charity Marathon Stream was largest block in event's history

Bungie's block in the annual Guardian Con Charity Marathon Stream yesterday managed to raise over $400,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, setting an event record.

The annual marathon streaming event runs from June 16 through June 23 this year, and has at the time of publication raised $2.5 million of its $3 million goal for St. Jude's.

Guardian Con's official Twitter has said that Bungie's four-hour block was the single largest block ever in the history of the event. Its stream consisted of Bungie team members playing various modes in Destiny 2 and challenging players to try to win against them in competitive play. The developer also offered various Destiny and Destiny 2-related prizes for certain tiers of donations throughout the stream.

Guardian Con began in August of 2015 as a fan meetup that has since evolved into a proper convention, with the charity marathon as just one of its many elements. Last year's event raised over $2.8 million, well above its $2.4 million goal.
