New awards event Develop:Star set for Develop:Brighton

The event will be streamlined and focus on 'the best games and talent'

A new awards event has been revealed for Develop:Brighton.

Named The Develop:Star Awards, the event will take place on the Wednesday night (July 10th) at the Hilton, Brighton Metropole. It's the same venue and time previously held by The Develop Awards.

GamesIndustry.biz has partnered with the new awards.

The event will feature 15 categories that will focus on creative excellence that will 'enable teams and studios of every size to shine'. It is being wholly run by Develop:Brighton organisers Tandem.

"The Develop Stars will be chosen by developers; peer group recognition of the very best the community has to offer," Said Tandem MD Andy Lane. "We're limiting the number of categories to streamline the awards ceremony, and, whilst the Develop Stars will be highly coveted, we're also determined to bring back a sense of fun to the evening.

“We're determined to make the Develop Stars as inclusive as possible with awards that are aimed at every level of the industry and with ticket prices that are affordable. It's going to be a very special night that will give this remarkable community the chance to celebrate the amazing creative talent that exists within UK and Europe."

One of the 15 categories will be the 'Develop Star' award, which will honour an 'extraordinary' game developer. Nominations will be free for all categories and they will be shortlisted down by a panel of industry experts. The final voting will be opened up to the game development community.

Other partners for the event including Sony Interactive Entertainment, Epic Games and Network N.
