Discord Store enters global open beta

Service launches with 23 store titles, new Nitro subscription service

Today, Discord rolled out what had previously been a Canada-only beta test of its Discord Store to an international audience. The public beta includes 23 games for sale in the store, five of which are launching first exclusively on the service.

The Discord Store's beta test began last August for approximately 50,000 Canadian users and included popular indie titles such as Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, and Into the Breach. The international launch expands the store library somewhat, and introduces five "First on Discord" games: At Sundown, Bad North, King of the Hat, Minion Masters, and Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption.

In addition, Discord has rolled out an update to its Nitro subscription service. Previously, the $4.99/month Nitro subscription offered users perks in Discord's chat service related to avatars and emoji use. Now, in addition to the chat-focused tier, a $9.99/month or $99.99/year Nitro subscription tier has been added that offers users unlimited access (as long as the subscription is active) to the Discord library of Nitro games.

Current Nitro games include Last Day of June, Hob, The End is Night, Dandara, Abzu, and others - at least 60 total at launch.

Finally, Discord now incorporates its promised game launcher, which will allow users to import and launch games on their system from Discord even if those games normally must go through a different launch to start.
