Steep canceled on Nintendo Switch

Ubisoft to focus on "new live content and challenges" for current platforms

Winter sports fans on Nintendo Switch will need to look elsewhere to hit the slopes, as Ubisoft has cancelled its release of Steep on the platform.

In a reply this morning to someone asking for news of the game on Switch via Twitter, the official Steep account had this to say:

"We are wholly dedicated to supporting the live game, and made the decision to stop Steep development on the Nintendo Switch platform to focus on bringing new live content and challenges to Steep players instead. We'll have more exciting news to share soon."

Steep was announced alongside Just Dance 2017 and Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition for the Switch in January of 2017, two months before the Switch's release. Just Dance turned out to be a launch title, while Rayman Legends appeared in September of that year. Steep, meanwhile, went silent, though the game still has a Nintendo store page at the time of this writing.

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Ubisoft for comment.
