FIFA 18 tops European charts with combined digital and retail sales

World cup fever has driven FIFA 18 to the top of the European retail charts, replicating last week's success in the UK boxed charts.

New European charts from Game Sales Data (GSD) shows that the nearly year-old game is up from No. 2 last week, knocking Detroit: Become Human from the top spot into second place.

Meanwhile, Overwatch is holding steady at No. 3, followed by God of War which has recovered a little from No. 6 to No. 4.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is up from No. 7 to No. 6, while Grand Theft Auto V has clawed itself up from No. 9 to No. 6.

Entering the charts at No. 7 this week was Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection, followed by Mario Kart 8, Far Cry 5, and even an entry from four-year-old title The Sims 4 which came in at No. 10.

Led by European trade body ISFE, the GSD is the first to track digital sales.

While most big publishers are providing digital figures, notable holdouts include Bethesda, Konami and Nintendo; with those caveats in mind, here are the digital charts for Europe.

FIFA 18 is once again at the top, up from No. 5 the week prior, followed in second place by the surprise entry of Just Cause 3 which is up from No. 135.

In at No. 3 is the Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 bundle up from No. 8 last week, while State of Decay 2 has fallen from No. 1 to No. 4.

Detroit: Become Human is down two spots this week to No. 5, while Mass Effect: Andromeda was up one spot to No. 6.

Both entries in the rebooted Deus Ex franchise made an appearance in the digital charts this week with Mankind Divided up from No. 132 to No. 7, while Human Revolution arrives at No. 8, up from No. 70 the week prior.

Finally, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is down from No. 4 last week to No. 9, while Bioshock the Collection rounds out the Top 10, rising up from No, 19.
