Game critic John "TotalBiscuit" Bain dies aged 33

Popular YouTuber loses four-year battle with cancer

Game critic and YouTuber John Bain, known more commonly as TotalBiscuit and the Cynical Brit, has died aged 33.

The news was announced yesterday via Twitter through his official account, and the account of his wife Genna Bain.

In 2014, Bain revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer and was receiving chemotherapy; just a year later, he announced the illness was terminal.

He retired from games criticism earlier this year, but continued to work on The Co-Optional Podcast and his popular YouTube channel throughout his illness.

Also a professional esports shoutcaster for games like StarCraft 2, Bain launched his career over a decade ago after losing his job at a financial advisory firm.

Although recognised as a somewhat divisive figure within the industry, Bain was a popular critic and personality, boasting over two million subscribers to his long-running YouTube channel.
