Amy Hennig and Shawn Layden headline Gamelab 2018

Hennig will receive the Gamelab Honor Award, while Layden will be interviewed onstage by PS4 architect Mark Cerny

Amy Hennig will be presented with Gamelab's Honor Award next month, a collaborative honour from the Barcelona-based developer conference and the Spanish Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences.

The Honor Award is given in recognition of Hennig's 30-year career, which has included very successful periods at Crystal Dynamics and, most notably, Naughty Dog. She was recently hired to work on a Star Wars title for Electronic Arts, but the project was moved to EA Vancouver when EA closed its original developer, Visceral Games.

Previous recipients of Gamelab's Honor Award include Hideo Kojima and Richard Garriott. Hennig will be its first female recipient.

Hennig will be joined at Gamelab by two industry figures with whom she worked during her time at Naughty Dog: Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PlayStation 4, and Shawn Layden, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios. The marquee session on the first day of the conference will be a conversation between Cerny and Layden about the games produced by PlayStation's first-party developer network.

Other key speakers confirmed at Gamelab include Warhorse Studios co-founder Daniel Vávra, Rovio CEO Kati Levoranta, Team17 founder Debbie Bestwick and Gorogoa creator Jason Roberts.

Gamelab will take place at the Hotel Hosperia Tower in Barcelona, from June 27 to 29. Tickets for the event are already on sale, and you can find more information on the official website.

GamesIndustry.biz is a media partner of the Gamelab conference. We will attend the show with the assistance of the organiser.
