Sony will show no new hardware at E3 2018

E3 press conference will focus on deep dives into four first-party software titles

Sony is calibrating expectations for big reveals during its E3 media briefing this year. During this morning's PlayStation Blogcast, Sony Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden confirmed that there will be "no new hardware announcement at E3 this year."

Sans hardware, Layden confirmed Sony's plans for software presentations at its traditional E3 press conference, which he also laid out in on the PlayStation official blog. Sony will show "exclusive looks and deep dives on four of our upcoming titles," which Layden laid out as Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us Part 2. The event will also include third party announcements and some showings from independent developers.

Sony's press event will take place in its usual time slot on Monday, June 11 at 6 p.m. PT. The show will be broadcast live on various streaming services, including PlayStation's official channel.
