Far Cry 5 secures second week at No.1 in UK charts

No new entries and a handful of price promotions mean quiet week for retail

Ubisoft still holds onto the top spot in the UK charts this week with Far Cry 5.

The shooter saw a 69 per cent drop in sales over the course of its second week - fairly standard for AAA games post-launch - but a lack of new releases meant there was nothing to dethrone Ubisot's latest blockbuster as the best-selling game of the week.

In fact, there were no new entries anywhere in the Top 40, and no changes at No.2 and No.3. FIFA 18 is still in second, despite a 26 per cent sales drop week-on-week, followed by the Xbox exclusive Sea of Thieves, which sold 32 per cent less copies this week.

The only significant moves were driven primarily by price promotions. The discounted Forza Motorsport 7 rose five places to No.4, with a 32 per cent boost in sales.

That gives Xbox three consecutive exclusives in the charts, with PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds a non-move at No.5. Sales for the Battle Royale title remained relatively flat - a dip of just one per cent, the lowest for any title in the Top 10.

Elsewhere, Star Wars Battlefront II re-enters the Top 40 at No.16 thanks to its own retail promotion, lifting sales by 52 per cent.

The rest of the UKIE/GfK Top 10 features familiar best-sellers, as you can see for yourself below. As always, these are based on retail sales, not digital ones.
