Develop:Brighton 2018 reveals first official sessions

Rami Ismail and Mike Bithell "One on One" the highlight of the UK conference's first wave

Develop:Brighton has unveiled its first official speaker sessions, with a "One on One" discussion between Mike Bithell and Rami Ismail among the highlights.

"Rami & Mike One on One" will see the indie figureheads discuss their experiences over the last few years, as a way of identifying the problems that other developers might face and what they can expect from the future.

Other sessions will touch on two of the key trends in the games business right now: Alex Amsel from the crowdfunding platform Fig will explore cryptocurrencies and the blockchain in his talk, "Cryptocurrency in Gaming: Today and Tomorrow"; and Unity Technologies' Alessia Nigretti will detail the implementation of machine learning in, "Enhancing Your Game's AI Using Unity Machine Learning Agents."

Virtual and mixed reality will be explored in two of the sessions. The BBC's Bradley Crooks will consider the way VR has opened up new avenues for storytelling, while Wargaming's Matt Daly will present the way the World of Tanks' company uses of mixed reality in research, development, marketing and PR.

Relentless founder David Amor will also speak at Develop:Brighton, discussing his move from console studios to making mobile free-to-play games at his current company Mag Interactive.

Tickets are on-sale at Super Early Bird rates until April 25. Readers of GamesIndustry.biz can get an additional 10 per cent off with the discount code: IDCQXO.

Tandem Events has changed the format this year, making its one-day event Evolve a track in the larger Develop:Brighton conference - which will now run for three whole days at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from July 10 to 12, 2018. You can find more information on speakers and sessions on the official website.
