Chatterbox secures €325,000 to develop games for instant messenging platforms

"We are at the sweet spot of casual gaming and messaging - both mega trends of this decade", says Chatterbox CEO

Berlin-based developer Chatterbox Games has secured pre-seed funding worth €325,000, GamesIndustry.biz can reveal.

With these funds, Chatterbox Games will focus on delivering a portfolio of titles for the rapidly expanding games platform, Facebook Instant Games.

Messenger gaming already has more than 1.3 billion monthly active users and many games on Facebook Instant Games are sustaining ten million monthly active users.

In November last year, Facebook announced it was clearing the way for monetisation by adding support for video ads and in-app purchases.

"We are at the sweet spot of casual gaming and messaging - both mega trends of this decade", said Chatterbox CEO Antii Hattara.

Founded in March 2017 by ten-year industry veterans Antti Hattara and Adam Telfer, Chatterbox Games has a core team of five members with experience working on multiple successful mobile titles.

The team has already released two experimental games on iMessenger and Facebook Instant Games, and is set to launch two new games within the first quarter of 2018.

The funding was led by CEO of Huuuge Games Anton Gauffin, and Reaktor Ventures, along with additional funding from angel investors Harri Manninen, Alex Arias, Gordon Thompson and industry veterans.
