PUBG Corp donating $2m to charity

$1m charity campaign planned for later in the year following various donations in 2017

PUBG Corp has announced that by the end of 2018 it will have donated $2 million to a multitude of charities.

The firm's philanthropic efforts began last year when it revealed it would allocate a portion of the revenues generated by its Gamescom 2017 Invitational Crate key sales to partner charities.

A further $100,000 was donated to the Twitch PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Winder Charity Invitational last month, and now the company has detailed further efforts for 2018.

A donation of $300,000 has been promised to Extra Life's PUBG Charity Marathon that kicks off on Monday, January 29th and runs all week. This will go towards Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

In April, PUBG Corp will work with Gamers Outreach to host a LAN tournament at the 2018 edition of Gamers for Giving, promising to match the donations made by the community.

Finally, the company is planning its own charity campaign later this year that is expected to raise up to $1 million.

"We know from past events that our community has a passion for giving back and helping others," said Sammie Kang, Lead Community Manager of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

"It's been great to see content creators and their audiences using their talents for worthy causes, and PUBG Corp. is committed to supporting charity efforts with the same enthusiasm our players have shown. We've made an impact in the gaming world over the past year, and we're hoping to have even more of an effect on some outstanding charitable organisations in 2018."

GamesIndustry.biz revealed yesterday that PUBG Corp is opening its first European office in Amsterdam next month. You can read the full interview here.
