Sony's dev relations head departs - Report

Florian Hunziker leaves PlayStation maker after just a year on the job

Sony may soon have its third head of third-party developer relations in the last three years. According to VentureBeat, the most recent occupant of that position, Florian Hunziker, has left the company after just a year on the job.

Hunziker took over as Sony's head of third-party developer relations in January of last year, filling the vacancy created by the 2016 departure of Adam Boyes. It's unclear why Hunziker left, or what role he plans to move into next.

Hunziker came to Sony from Element Six Entertainment, a start-up for original IP he co-founded with former Destiny creative director Ryan Ellis. Prior to that, he was COO of Harmonix for a seven-year stint that included the peak and decline of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band craze, and also spent three years with Electronic Arts as senior director of business development for the EA Partners label.

It's been an eventful stretch among Sony's executive ranks. Sony Interactive Entertainment president and global CEO Andrew House stepped down in October, replaced by his deputy Tsuyoshi 'John' Kodera. The next month Sony's UK marketing head Rich Keen left the company, while SIE Europe president and SIE head of global sales and marketing Jim Ryan stepped up into Kodera's vacated deputy president role earlier this week.

As of this writing, a Sony representative had not returned a request for comment.
