Infinity Ward to open Polish studio

Studio to become home to "world class" research and development team

Infinity Ward has announced a new studio expansion in Krakˇw, Poland.

According to a post on the Infinity Ward community blog, the new studio will become home to "a talented team of developers" who will focus on research and development while working closely with Infinity Ward LA.

"We're thrilled to announce the expansion of our development capabilities with the opening of Infinity Ward Poland," said Dave Stohl, studio head for Infinity Ward.

"We're building a world-class R&D studio that will tap into the creative local game development culture and talent in Poland.

"This expansion will further solidify our position as one of the most dedicated and accomplished teams in the industry. We look forward to great things to come."

The studio will be headed up by principal rendering engineer Michal Drobot.

This marks somewhat of a turnaround for the studio which had a rough start to 2017.

Following the disappointing performance of its latest addition to the Call of Duty franchise, Infinite Warfare, parent company Activision saw revenue tumble 22% year-over-year. In February, the publisher laid off 5% of its staff across the organisation, including at Infinity Ward.
