Remote Control Productions expands into Romania

Romania joins Finland as second international subsidiary for the Munich-based developer network

remote control productions has opened an international subsidiary in the fast growing developer hub of Bucharest, Romania.

The company now has offices in Romania, Finland and its native Germany, the same countries in which the 13 studios it represents are based. Hendrik Lesser, who founded remote control productions in Munich in 2005, described international expansion as an "important goal" for the group. "Romania is a perfect fit for us," he said, in a statement provided exclusively to

remote control productions Romania will be led by Bogdan Oprescu, the co-founder and CEO of the Bucharest-based BigBlue Studios, one of the top independent developers in Romania. Oprescu has also worked in various production roles at both Ubisoft and CI Games.

Ubisoft opened a studio in Bucharest in 1992, and since then the city has grown to become a key hub for European game development. Today, there are 50 independent studios in Romania, most of them located in Bucharest, employing around 7,000 people in total. The first Romanian studio to join the remote control productions group will be announced soon.

"I was instantly hooked when I heard about the rcp vision of a European family of developers," Oprescu added. "Here in Romania there's an active and growing independent developer scene which will benefit tremendously from the unique services the rcp group has to offer.

"I'm excited and proud to introduce rcp's proven business model to the Romanian games industry."
