Reboot InfoGamer puts VR in the spotlight

Adriatic consumer show hopes to attract 70,000 attendees

Cementing its importance as a gateway to the Adriatic market for publishers and developers alike, this year's Reboot Infogamer promises to be the busiest yet, with organisers expecting 70,000 attendees to pass through the doors of the Zagreb Fair between November 8-13.

Now in its fifth year, Reboot Infogamer is the biggest consumer games event in the region, attracting 200 exhibitors from 20 countries in 2016, including more than 100 VR units. Alongside the games there will be extensive tournaments, influencer appearances, cosplay competitions and huge indie and retro areas.

"In five years our consumer games show has grown to one of the biggest in Europe," said show director Damir Durovic. "This is mostly thanks to exceptional consumer interest and the unprecedentedly rapid growth of video games market in South East Europe, but also thanks to huge support from our long time publishing and exhibiting partners. This year also marks our first year where we have Starbreeze Studios as our lead partner, which besides supporting the convention has also recently heavily invested in local game development scene."

As well as confidently signalling its intentions to become a considerable player in the VR market, Starbreeze put $8 million towards a development partnership with Croatian studio Lion Game Lion for its WWII shooter Raid, capitalising on an existing partnership in which Lion Game Lion contributed towards the development of DLC for Starbreeze's Payday 2.

"It's great to see Lion Game Lion succeed so well in our PAYDAY 2 collaboration," said Starbreeze COO Mikael Nermark. "By delivering great gameplay, they have not only gained our trust, but also the trust of players. Now it's time for them to bat in the big leagues with Raid: World War II."

GamesIndustry.biz has an ongoing media partnership with Reboot Infogamer and Reboot Develop. We will be attending both shows courtesy of the organisers.
