"Gaining partners who believed in the future of VR is like gaining a huge army"

Reload Studios, formed by two veterans of the Call of Duty franchise, has closed its first funding round at $4 million.

The investors are Rothenberg Ventures, World Innovation Lab, Barunson E&A, YK CRCM RS LLC as well as a few undisclosed private backers.

"Now the foundation is set. Gaining partners who believed in the future of VR is like gaining a huge army for the battle. We are ready to take on the whole world of VR," said CEO James Chung.

The studio just announced VR title World War Toons and the formation of the studios own VR Lab. It's also partnered with WoofbertVR, an arts education VR company.

"Today's digital consumers will best experience and embrace virtual reality through its most exciting and breath-taking content," added Chun Ding, general partner at YK CRCM RS LLC.

"We applaud the talented team at Reload Studios for what they have accomplished and are thrilled to partner with them to bring the best of these contents to the consumers."

Reload was founded in 2014. Prior to that Oh spent over ten years with Infinity Ward working on the Call Of Duty franchise, while Chung (who also spent time at Infinity Ward) was the creative director of entertainment and design consultation studio Studio iGo.
