Bowser joins Nintendo

Ex-EA exec signs on with American arm of Mario maker as VP of sales

Doug Bowser has signed on to be Nintendo of America's new VP of sales. The company announced the hiring today, saying that Bowser's new role will have him overseeing in-store merchandising, retail strategy and retail marketing.

Bowser will report to Nintendo of America executive VP of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt, who had glowing words for his latest hire.

"Doug Bowser is an outstanding addition to our Nintendo team, as he brings a deep blend of both consumer package goods and video game sales experience," Moffit said. "I know he will work tirelessly with our internal and external partners to ensure the broad Nintendo product lineup of hardware, software and accessories are strongly represented throughout US retail points of distribution."

Bowser comes to Nintendo from Electronic Arts, where he was VP of global demand planning. Bowser had been with EA in a variety of roles for eight years. Prior to that, he worked at Procter & Gamble for 23 years, with a focus shifting between the US, Hong Kong, and Latin America.

Am I the only one that sees the joke on the headine? I thought it was about a new Bowser amiigo figure, some new game with Bowser as the lead character or that he will get his own attraction at the recently announced Universal theme parks partnership.

Anyway just thought it was funny :P

That headline confused me.
All the possible Bowser puns... oh my god.

I applaud your will, Brendan. How long did you wrestle with the idea before concluding not to include any puns or allusions to Mario's nemesis?

@Jim, it's so obvious that we figured just let the name speak for itself in the headline. No pun required.

You even cut off Bowser's face in the picture above. That is truly uncanny restraint.
