Bigpoint hires ESL veteran as software development head

Philipp Kölmel brings a strong track record in eSports to the German online publisher

Bigpoint has appoint eSports veteran Philipp Kölmel as its new head of software development.

Kölmel has left the role of director of development at Turtle Entertainment, the organiser of the Electronic Sports League, to join up with Bigpoint. In his new role, he will be responsible for, "further developing Bigpoint´s technology platform."

"At Bigpoint, I have found a very passionate team with really experienced and motivated professionals from all over the world," Kölmel said in a statement. "The company´s platform has great potential, which we will be looking to leverage, and I am pretty sure that we can accomplish very exciting things for Bigpoint's millions of users."

Exactly how relevant Kölmel's past experience will be to his plans isn't clear, but this is just the latest in a number of personnel changes Bigpoint had made in the last few months. The last example, in March, were taken to strengthen the company's live games management team.
