Mortal Kombat secures UK #1

Mortal Kombat X has taken the number one spot on the UK's retail charts, ousting Battlefield Hardline and fending off a challenge from GTA V.

The chart, which only incorporates retail sales and not digital, indicates that this was the most successful launch ever for a Mortal Kombat game in the UK, with 61 per cent of sales occurring on PS4, 38 per cent on Xbox One and just 1 per cent of boxed sales on PC. GTA V, which was edged into second place despite it's recent release on PC, is likely to have outsold MKX should the digital sales from online retailers such as Steam be considered.
