Legend of Zelda is Japan's #1

Beats Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster to the top

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has, unsurprisingly, entered the Japanese software charts at number 1, fending off competition from the only other new entries in the top ten, the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster.

  1. [3DS] The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - 224,143 (New entry)
  2. [3DS] Puzzle & Dragons Z - 205,654 (Lifetime sales - 1,005,658)
  3. [PS3] Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster - 185,918 (New entry)
  4. [3DS] Pokemon X and Y - 185,918 (3,726,596)
  5. [PSV] Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster Twin Pack - 149,132 (New entry)

In hardware the 3DS XL had a heavy lead on its closest rival, the PlayStation Vita, while the Wii U held on to 3 despite a fall in sales on last week.

  1. 3DS XL - 139,867 (Last week - 164,078)
  2. PlayStation Vita - 81,111 (50,087)
  3. Wii U - 73,178 (109,113)
  4. 3DS - 61,836 (68,522)
  5. PlayStation 3 - 30,321 (24,573)
  6. PSP - 10,310 (9,905)
  7. PlayStation Vita TV - 6,031 (5,504)
  8. Wii - 1,715 (1,711)
  9. Xbox 360 - 616 (763)

Impressive week for both Nintendo and Sony, though with that huge Vita boost and basically non-existent Vita TV boost I think we can say that platform will pretty clearly be dead and buried in the coming few months. Great software sales though, and look at Pokemon! 2 months on the market and still selling 185K units like it's nothing.

My girlfriend gave me a 3DS for christmas, and Im really loving it. The best part is that Im enjoying it more than I thought I would, Both Zelda A link Between Worlds and Fire Emblem have occupied most of my time lately. And what makes these games special is I cant put them down, I often find myself not sleeping at all because Im so adddicted to them, few games get me like that. but i think I need some sleep christmas vacation is done for me and I gotta work.... and then there is Mario 3d land...

To me Fire Emblem has always been Nintendos Killer app. If they make one for WiiU Im getting a WiiU. For those who havent played it you should give it a try if your into strategy games or chess. It reminds me alot of chess. One bad move can cost you an entire round. Im playing in classic mode too, were if one character dies, thats it, he is gone.

Thanx Jim, Im really looking foward to it. Shin Megami Tensei is also one of my favorite franchises, I own both SMT IV and Soul Hackers. And with Persona Q coming out Im really excited. And if Nintendo is going to cross these two franchises together you can imagine my excitement. Fire Emblem Awakening has kept me up for a few nights. Ive seen the sun go down, to then come back up, missed a few nights of sleep during christmas :)
