Tony Hawk HD sells 120,000 units in first week

XBLA launch of new Tony Hawk game does well following positive reviews

The digital revival of the Tony Hawk franchise has gotten off to a positive start with the announcement of just over 120,000 units sold in the first week on Xbox Live Arcade. Developer Robomodo revealed that the game, which has been seeing good reviews from around the web, is looking forward to launch on the PC and PSN later this year.

Robomodo dev Josh Tsui commented that daily sales of the game on XBLA have remained consistent, and he remarked that smaller titles on downloadable platforms are making it easier for gamers to give any particular title a try. "People are more apt to try games" in this manner over buying $60 physical retail titles.

With Pro Skater HD doing well on the Xbox, Tsui and the team at Robomodo believe things on the PC and PSN will only make things better. "It should be interesting to see the sales on PC -- we've been surprised how many people are asking for that," he said.

Glad to hear it's doing well. I'm enjoying it, though finding it tricky at times to adjust to THPS gameplay sans-revert, since I really only got "into" the series starting with THPS 3 (when the revert was added).

Ah, it's taking me back. Hopefully it's success will indicate what we've been saying for years, TH didn't necessarily start failing due to people getting sick of the games as much as moving further from the winning formula from Underground on.

Really puzzled by the lack of local multiplayer, and our old favourite mode, Horse. Interested to see if there are many secret characters, I'm guessing we won't get to see Spider-man :(

I would have loved to see a new version of THPS 3 aswell, i'm loving all the HD collections and find it weird to not see THPS 3 with these two.

Alex, the plan is to release some THPS levels, along with the revert, as dlc I believe.

I really hope they consider putting back in the local multiplayer in the dlc if the game is successful enough to warrant the work. I'm guessing adding it now may be costly?
