No London Games Festival this year

UKIE plans to return in 2012 alongside Olympic Games

There will be no London Games Festival in the UK this year, although organiser UKIE hopes to return next year with an event to run alongside the London 2012 Olympics.

The London Games Festival was designed to unite the UK games scene, bringing together consumer, business, trade and entertainment events.

Despite no official festival this year, many of the events previously included are still due, organised by individual companies - the Eurogamer Expo takes place once again at Earls Court, September 22-25, and Intent Media's London Games Conference is due on November 10.

UKIE said that it plans a "major commitment" to the event next year as well as collaboration with rival trade association TIGA, although no other details were forthcoming.

"We really want to make London Games Festival 2012 a great destination for interactive entertainment and create a diverse group of events, we're looking to invest more into this event to create content that will encompass skills, entertainment, consumer focus, development, government, accessibility and tech events which will be launched/incubated by UKIE and TIGA," commented LGF director Kirsty Payne.
