Blackberry execs criticised at annual meeting

Shareholders question Research In Motion's strategies

Research In Motion faced criticism from its shareholders yesterday at its annual meeting.

According to Reuters, attendees questioned the low share prices, product delays and the retails issues surrounding the PlayBook tablet.

"You're letting Apple and Android eat your lunch," said one investor. "You're an innovator, but you're not good at selling what you make."

Mike Lazaridis, co chief executive, also addressed the delay in releasing a new smartphone, the Bold, but tried to reassure investors, saying "we're going to come out ahead."

Meanwhile co chief executive Jim Balsillie told the group there are 67 million subscribers currently using BlackBerries. This is an increase of 12 million since last November.

The company also announced a revenue increase of 33 per cent in March last year, and acquired mobile developerScoreloop last month.
