New Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect announced at VGAs

Forza 4, InSane, Prototype 2, SSX: Deadly Descent also on show

A handful of big titles have been revealed at the Spike Video Game Awards over the weekend, with EA and BioWare showing off Mass Effect 3 and Bethesda teasing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Both franchise sequels are due before the end of next year, with Mass Effect 3 confirmed as a simultaneous release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC after being exclusive to Microsoft's consoles in the past.

Radical Entertainment revealed a trailer for Prototype 2, while Microsoft unveiled Forza 4, complete with Kinect support.

Electronic Arts also announced the return of the SSX extreme sports brand, with SSX: Deadly Descent, while Sony and Naughty Dog showed in-game footage of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

THQ also revealed details of its team-up with movie director Guillermo Del Torro - a new horror game, InSane, will be released in 2013. Resistance 3, from Insomniac, was also on show at the awards.

"Elder Scrolls" and "Mass Effect", two of my favorite franchises. Today is a good day.

Now if only EA would give me the happyness of a new "Syndicate"...

Mass Effect 2 is one of my favorite games. I hope this next game just as great, if not better.

How is anyone supposed to have enough time to play all of these wonderful games? I finally just finished Dragon Age Awakening and now DA2 is coming out! Never finished Witcher because DA came out, haven't had a chance to even touch Mass Effect 1 OR 2...

These games are so long and offer so many replayability choices that I need a sequel every 4 years instead :)

Whilst it is great that two of my favourite games will receive sequels next year (Mass Effect and Elder Scrolls), I do worry for my degree, as Oblivion took away A LOT of my time, as well as the ME series! Oh well, probably worth it. Heck, I might end up using council politics as an argument for supra vs international politics.

Looking forward to ME3 and Uncharted 3 and maybe SSX (if it is as fun and arcady as the previous games in the series). Not sure about Elder Scrolls, I found the last one kind of boring and I really don`t like Bethesdas way of "balancing enemy levels" by having the enemy level scale with the player level. It just takes away to much of the challenge and makes it kind of to easy. I think I finished Oblivion without even dying once. Also I really hope they got a new engine that is less bugy than the current one thats used for Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
