Nokia's app store boasts 165m users

Ovi Store enjoys 3m downloads a day, up by 1m in two months

Ovi Store, Nokia's proprietary rival to the iOS App Store, has reached a milestone user count of 165 million.

The Finnish phone firm also confirmed over three million Ovi downloads per day, a rise of one million from September.

"Ovi Store is on a strong trajectory fueled by new apps and games from a growing number of partners and more than 250,000 new consumers signing up for Ovi every day," said Tero Ojanperae, Nokia's executive vice president of Services.

"We anticipate our progress will continue as we have just begun shipping our new Symbian smartphones."

Nokia also claimed that 400,000 developers have signed up to create Ovi apps over the last 12 months. In addition, 92 developers have seen their apps downloaded over a million times.

Of the service's top thee apps, two are games - Rovio's ubiquitous Angry Birds and EA's Need For Speed Shift HD.
