Latest Pokemon shifts 2.6m in two days

Black And White on DS outsells series' previous Japanese best by over a million units

Pokemon Black & White, the latest in the long-running Nintendo series, has sold 2,637,285 units in Japan over just two days.

This makes the DS game by far the series' quickest-selling title to date, reports Enterbrain, outdoing previous record-holder Diamond & Pearl by over a million copies.

Additionally, the title had mustered 1.08 million pre-orders as of late August.

Pokemon Black & White (as per series tradition split into two near-identical titles, each with their own bonus creatures), is due for a Western release in Spring 2011.
